About Mark Ferraretto

Mark Ferraretto is a practising solicitor and the principal of Mark Ferraretto Legal Practice. He was admitted to the Supreme Court of South Australia in August 2017.

Mark graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Adelaide in 1989, majoring in Computer Science. He spent 25 years as an IT professional and consultant, working in a wide variety of industries including education, banking and finance, government and aviation, in both Australia and Hong Kong.

Looking for a new challenge, Mark began studying law while living in Hong Kong, returned to Australia with his family in 2012, and graduated from Adelaide University Law School in 2016.

Before graduating, Mark worked at an Adelaide corporate and commercial law firm, where he advised technology clients. He also put his IT skills to work in-house, writing document automation and matter management systems, and introducing and managing the firm's first use of electronic discovery systems.

In 2019 Mark joined Flinders University as a Lecturer in Law. He established Flinders University's legal technology curriculum, including Law in a Digital Age, in which law students learnt coding skills and wrote legal software applications for not-for-profit clients. Mark returned to private practice in 2021 before returning to Flinders University in 2023 as a Senior Lecturer in Law. Mark now practises privately, and still works with Flinders University on technology and social impact projects.

In 2022 Mark founded Digital Law Lab, which provides AI training and technology advice to the legal profession.

Mark has held a Private Pilot's Licence since 1990 and a Recreational Pilot's Certificate since 2022. Mark currently owns an Aeropup Light Sport Aircraft and has also held interests in general aviation aircraft. Mark was a Director of Recreational Aviation Australia Limited from 2022 to 2024 and has served on the committee of the Adelaide Soaring Club. Mark is also a member of the South Australian Aviation Museum.
